Anyone who’s followed me for a while will know what a huge interiors nut I am. If I see an antiques store, I can’t resist popping in for a browse and I love mixing up my schemes at home to give rooms a new look. Doing up Honor’s nursery (which you can see here) was so much fun and I love adding new items to existing interiors if I feel like a bit of a change.

As Mackenzie and I are exhausted by the end of the week, we wanted to create a home that was as relaxing as it is practical. Now that we’re parents, we’re much more ‘night in’ people and our home needs to feel homely! Instead of the bright colors and contemporary furniture that I reached for in my twenties, I like to incorporate lots of neutral tones into my house, which do wonders for warming up any space. Think jute baskets, cream throws and earthy colored ceramics. Neutral colors are calming in the Summer, warming in the Winter and chic all year round. Win win.

I recently got a whole lot of items from Shoppe by Amber Interiors and I adore them. Amber Interiors is headed up by interior designer Amber Lewis who I’ve been following for years. I adore her interiors; clean lines and elegant design mixed with antique items that stay true to the soul of an older building. Her brand Shoppe is a home and lifestyle store with so many great items for the home. Read my interiors tips below and shop my new home haul to recreate the look for yourself. Happy shopping!

-When it comes to color, a little goes a long way. A pop of color can be a really fun addition but it can be as simple as a colorful photograph frame or a vase of flowers. The more portable your pops of color are, the easier it will be to mix up the look.

-Don’t be afraid of the ‘boring’ colors…because they’re far from boring. While you may not want to have a wardrobe that is predominantly brown or grey, you can absolutely do this with home decor items. Cushions, throws and decorative accessories are much more elegant in understated tones.

-Natural is always better (and it’s so much more doable than it sounds). Think of going for natural or untreated materials the next time you’re interiors shopping. Stone, wood, marble, bamboo, jute, granite, reclaimed materials…the list is longer than you think and you’ll find items last far longer.

-Go vintage. I can’t explain how much I love adding vintage pieces to my home. Whether it’s a magazine rack I picked up in London for less than $20 or re-covering an ancient armchair in a pretty fabric to give it a new lease of life- I love it.
