Our Approach

At Sharland England, we believe the most beautiful homes are built over time.

Founded by Louise Roe, Sharland England creates furniture and homewares designed to be cherished for years rather than seasons. Inspired by a love of traditional craftsmanship, enduring design and thoughtful entertaining, our collections are created with longevity at their heart.

We recognise our responsibility to continually improve the way we operate, we believe meaningful progress begins with making products that are valued, cared for and kept for generations.

Craftsmanship First - Supporting small makers

Every Sharland England piece begins with a design by Louise and is brought to life by skilled artisans in workshops across England, Spain, Italy, India, Bulgaria and Indonesia.

We work with makers who possess specialist skills that have often been passed down through generations. Their expertise allows us to create products that celebrate traditional craftsmanship while supporting artisan communities around the world.

By producing in partnership with experienced workshops, we help preserve time-honoured techniques that might otherwise be lost.

All our products are handmade and support the craft and livelihood of people within traditional communities around the world. For example, our linens are hand-loomed, blockprinted, and hand-embroidered by a talented group of women artisans in India; our rattan is entirely hand-woven by skilled artisans in Indonesia; our glassware and ceramic are all handmade and hand-painted following centuries-old traditions.

Designed to Last

We believe longevity is one of the most important considerations in responsible design.

Rather than creating trend-led collections intended for short-term use, we focus on timeless pieces that can be enjoyed every day and passed down through generations.

From handwoven rattan furniture to ceramic tableware and embroidered linens, our collections are designed with enduring appeal and lasting quality in mind.

Responsible Production

As a founder-led business, we take a considered approach to production.

We work closely with our manufacturing partners and produce in carefully planned quantities, helping us maintain quality standards while avoiding unnecessary overproduction.

We work directly with a carefully selected network of artisan workshops and manufacturing partners, many of whom we have developed long-term relationships with. We regularly review our suppliers to ensure they share our commitment to quality, craftsmanship and responsible working practices.

As we grow, we continue to strengthen our understanding of material provenance and supply chain transparency across all product categories.

Caring for Your Pieces

We believe the longest-lasting products are often the most responsible.

We encourage customers to care for and maintain their purchases so they can be enjoyed for many years. Through product care guidance and thoughtful design, we aim to support the longevity of every item we create.

Our Commitments

As a growing business, we recognise that sustainability is an ongoing process of learning and improvement. We are committed to reviewing our practices annually and setting meaningful goals that support responsible growth.

Sustainability is an ongoing journey rather than a finished destination.

Our goal is simple: to create beautiful products, support skilled craftspeople and build a business that values quality, longevity and responsible growth.

This approach is reviewed annually by our leadership team to ensure our commitments remain relevant, measurable and reflective of the way we operate as a growing business.
