With the chillier months of Autumn drawing in and the days getting shorter, let’s be real - those of us working from home would much rather sit by the fire with a good book and a cup of tea or snuggle and watch a movie than work. So, to get productive, I make my little home workspace as inviting and cosy as can be with just a few simple organisational and styling tweaks:

- Whether you have a dedicated home office room or just a corner of a room (like me) I believe having the right lighting is essential, so invest in stylish but functional task lighting and ambient lighting. A chic table lamp or a low pendant light will do the trick - I love my little Pooky lamp with a Fermoie shade for my petite workspace. Switch up your shade in the Fall to cosy up the lighting and make your desk feel new.

- My office chair gets a mini makeover every season too. I update the throw that lies over it and the cushion cover to match the season’s colours and mood. For example, in Autumn I like my rich, moody browns and terracotta tones. For Spring and Summer its flowers and pastels galore.

- Back to school = Stocking up on stationery for the year ahead. I am stationery obsessed so to me, a good workspace has a plethora of notebooks, pens and cards. If you’re anything like me, you know how important it is to keep them organised and ready to use. I keep all my pens, rulers, and scissors in my splatter Bambino vase which adds a nice pop of colour to my desk.

For notebooks, cards and the books I am flipping through for inspiration, I use the Hadley tray. It’s the ultimate desk organiser.

For pins, stray paper clips, keys, lip balm and other little essentials I use pretty trinket dishes or bowls instead of office-y desk bins. Not only do they keep your space neat, but they also add a touch of luxury to your office decor.

This Autumn, I’m sticking to a warm palette so dishes like the Coquillage or Concha will be my go-to's. I also keep my diy potpourri in a little dish by the desk. Check out some of my seasonal recipes here

- Offices need plants and flowers! And for Autumn, think deep red Roses, rich-hued Dahlias and Chinese Lanterns. If you are looking for a little more low-maintenance option, dried arrangements are having their moment right now and it’s easy to see why. They’re effortlessly chic and come in all the warm, earthy tones that scream Autumn. The best part? They don’t need any water or sunlight so you can simply arrange them once and enjoy them all season long! Look for Pampas Grass, Bunny Tails and Dried Hydrangeas.

Opt for a cohesive colour palette to pull the room together by using autumnal-hued vases for your arrangements. My go-to’s this season are the Splatter Verona Vase in Tan and Ivory, the Louise Jug and the Pinet Pot for my little desk plants

-When the sun sets, it’s time to light your office candle. Nothing cosies up a space like a good scented candle. Opt for a warm but lively scent like pomegranate and patchouli or amber and suede - I find them helpful to keep me focussed on work while keeping the stress away.

-Lastly, if you have video calls from your home office and would like to give a little makeover to your background, opt for an easy Autumn wreath to hang on the wall behind you. Check out how I make mine every year here
