Setting the table at Lord Beaverbrook’s magnificent country house really took me on a walk through history. From gorgeous gardens to stone pavilions dotted around the grounds, there is an abundance of inspiration to be found here. Nevertheless, it was the shell-encrusted grotto by Belinda Eade that captured me the most and was the inspiration for Sharland England’s Autumn tablescape. It’s quite magical! The grotto pays tribute to Lord Beaverbrook’s wife’s love of shells and depicts sea nymphs from Greek mythology, mermaids and fish.
Rolling with the nautical vibe, I used our Napa tablecloth in its brand new colourway: blue and cognac, and warmed it all up with plenty of terracotta and dark pink. A sprinkling of real shells in between our blue hobnail glass collection, and the scene was set! I’m looking forward to recreating this tablescape for my next dinner party, entertaining guests in style just like Lord Beaverbrook did in his spectacular home.
