Whether you're hosting a chic dinner party or simply elevating your evening at home, taper candles are just what you need.

I love styling all of my decor items and making them feel even more special so, I thought I'd share with you my 5 quick and easy ways to style taper candles.

1. Bows of course! I love how bows can add a touch of old charm to candles, just let the ribbons do the work. Go for classic ribbons - satin or velvet - and tie them around the base of each candle. Use neutral tones for a minimalist feel or rich, warm colours for a more elegant look.

Hosting a dinner party and forgot about the centrepiece? Just set your candles in pretty candle holders and tie a bow at the base, space them evenly down the table and you’ve got yourself a chic and cosy centrepiece.

2. Use Foliage. I love to bring a little bit of nature indoors and make my decor styling seasonal. And the foliage is so versatile: you can either tuck small sprigs around the base of each candle or go a little more dramatic with garlands that wind up and around the candle itself. Get creative! Experiment with trailing greenery for a loose, more organic feel or keep things structured with neat wreaths at the base. Either way, the result is fresh, natural and inviting.

There’s nothing quite like taper candles wrapped in beautiful greenery or adorned with fresh wildflowers. For Christmas, think sprigs of holly and ivy climbing our Festive Berry candles, while Spring lends itself beautifully to delicate blossoms like crab-apple or hawthorn wrapped around our Petal Blush candles. In Summer, opt for subtle-hued blooms like roses, tulips, freesias or dahlias surrounding the base of our Russet Tulip set.

3. Candle holders, but make them interesting. Pick some vintage or antique candle holders full of charm, hand-carved or hand-painted. You can find a collection of my favourite antique candle holders here. And we’ve also just launched a handcrafted ceramic candle holder designed by me… The Tallitha candle holder, discover it here

4. Play with light. Candlelight, by nature, is cosy and romantic but if you want to amplify that soft glow, place taper candles on small vintage mirrored trays, you can even use candles of varying heights. This creates depth and visual interest, especially when grouped together.

5. Use fruit and veggies. I love getting creative with anything I have in the pantry and this Fall I am styling our hand painted taper candles using little pumpkins. Follow my Instagram pages to see how. But you can really use anything you have, I love using apples as well, or lemons, pomegranates, and oranges that will make your room smell delicious too!
